12 Days of 3DS-mas Day 8: Game Review: Governor of Poker

The Game: Ruling Poker
Console: Nintendo 3DS
Developed by: Youda Games
Release date: April 10, 2014

I first discovered Ruler of Poker on the web as a flash game, so I was surprised to see it as a cheap download on the Nintendo eShop. However, I decided to see if anything had been added since the last time I played. Players seek to dominate the Texans by building their reputation at the poker tables, winning houses and halls in high stakes tournaments and tournaments, and getting a chance to become the best player in the desert.

The most important factor in creating an interesting poker game is the advanced artificial intelligence. A variety of narrow, corrupt, and most importantly smart players is essential to the fun if players want to feel like they're hitting the computer and getting something done. In poker rule, computer opponents play recklessly, betting whatever hand they want, which makes it difficult for players to appreciate good calls, calls and folds. Since most of the game consists of gambling, this greatly complicates the enjoyment of the game.

The graphics are cartoonish and break the mood that most poker games would like to represent. The problem with this unconventional thinking is that it matches and reinforces the apathetic mindset of many AI opponents. Cartoon sound effects and western music also help remind players that this was once a flash game.

In general, mobile poker games are better (maybe not on 3DS) and hard poker players are preferred. Poker Ruler doesn't really appeal to casual poker players because it takes hours of hard work to complete the game. With such a small marketing market, it's hard to see anyone enjoying the game even with a good software.
