12 Days of 3DS-mas Finale: Game Review: Edge

Game: Edge
System: Nintendo 3DS
Developed by: Two Tribes

Edge is a momentum-based 3D platform game that challenges players to guide a cube through levels to reach the exit. The cube can be rotated to any adjacent direction, and it moves as if it were aligned on the grid, so the rotation is a square of level 1. Additionally, players can precisely control the cube to perform slicing turns, which is useful because they Follow the cube to move the items in the level to fill the gaps and complete the most difficult sections of the game.

While there are many games with concepts similar to Edge, the control precision and realism of the cube moment are absolutely perfect, and the levels are designed with new elements for a fair and challenging slope. Cheats are released often enough to keep players interested. For a platform that looks ordinary, it's actually quite impressive.

Graphically, the game maintains a simple yet effective style with pops of color that simply highlight the level's objectives. The music is also very simple, with simple rhythms. This is probably the only aspect that could benefit from a little development, giving the entire game a futuristic technological edge with a much greater presence and feel.

All in all, Edge is an impressive eShop title and well worth the price. There are many levels to keep the players entertained and gameplay that makes the passage very intense. There's nothing that makes it particularly exceptional, but it's slim enough to feel like a quality purchase.
