After playing a small game of the first game in the Yakuza series, I didn't know what to expect from the PS4 predecessor, which was released 2 years ago in Japan, where the series is much more accessible and popular. I never expected Yakuza 0 to be completely engaging and accessible to newcomers to the franchise, with a perfect tonal balance or story that makes it a contender for my game of the year, along with Shenmue III from the same year. It will be published.

So let's take a look; At its core, Yakuza 0 is a story-driven game where 99% of problems are solved through combat. Fortunately, with 3 main fighting styles for the game's two main characters, weapons, fighting style upgrades, and thousands of parts to defeat your opponents in different ways, there is enough variety in the game's 17 chapters to remember the main fight as the plot moves forward. events and player interests.

As with most yakuza titles, the game takes place in the streets of Kamurocho, a kabukicho, Tokyo's red light district, full of activity, people, and especially the yakuza. Every previous version of District has had a major graphical upgrade, and the attention to detail is excellent, especially for such a small environment compared to most modern games. Endgame players' familiarity with Road deepens their emotional connection to the story.

I don't intend to spoil anything in this review, as the story is a big part of the game's appeal, but rest assured, while there is a lot to read and see in the game, it's a great cinematic and epic story. it's very easy to be too serious. The neat and intact demeanor of the Yakuza lieutenants who act as antagonists in various parts of the game almost scream at the players due to their extremely detailed expressions.

Yakuza 0 uses a variety of scene styles, including spoken and performed cutscenes, text-based cutscenes, and graphic novel-style panels. It doesn't tend to be disruptive, but it can sound a bit tonally dissonant. Although a game with a lot of text will seem too expensive. Thanks to the accurate recreation of Japanese streets, you can almost feel the atmosphere at times, even though the game is quite easy with good music. Only the main story uses a catchy soundtrack, forgettable electronic music during fights, and a muse after the substory.

Overall, I'm sure this will be my favorite game of 2017. The story is very engaging, the sub-plots and mini-games provide a humorous and contrasting tone, set in the beautifully recreated locations of Tokyo and Osaka. I cannot recommend this game enough. If you want to jam something, that's it.
